Great American Cooter Festival

The Great American Cooter Festival gets kick-started with high energy. In the historic heart of downtown Inverness, surrounded by dozens of shops and restaurants, enjoy music from opening act Mighty Mongo of St. Petersburg & then headliner Lucky Penny from Tampa.
You might have seen Mighty Mongo at The Grove Downtown in Inverness, where they perform regularly on Friday nights. You can listen to tracks from their MySpace page, or check out tracks from Lucky Penny here.
As part of this exciting night, watch the 2009 Miss Cooter finals and crowning of the winner. Expect some humorous moments as potential spokesmodels field questions from Matty Boy from Citrus 95.3 as they vie for the crown.
Hot dogs, hamburgers, Coca-Cola and Budweiser products will be available on the street, or you can stop in at several of the downtown restaurants within walking distance. You can also get your Cooter on with a full line of festival merchandise.
Citrus 95.3/The Fox 96.3 will do live remotes all night.
There will be a VIP Tent available offering reserved seating, food and drinks served by Elegant Catering of Inverness, and other amenities. Tickets are $40 for Chamber of Commerce members; $50 for non-Chamber members.
The concert and Miss Cooter competition is free to the public; bring your own lawn chair and be ready to dance on the square! Limited reserved seating is available for $5.00.
